1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you register, we collect your display name, email address, and city. We do not collect your full name, address, or date of birth.
Health and fitness data
With your permission, the App reads workout and activity data from Apple HealthKit (iOS) or Google Health Connect (Android). This data is used solely to track your challenge progress. Health data is never used for advertising, sold to data brokers, or shared with third parties except as required to operate the App.
Workout completions
We record which workouts you complete, when you completed them, your streak count, and points earned.
Usage data
We collect basic usage information to improve the App. This data is not linked to your identity.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Create and manage your account
- Track your workout completions and challenge progress
- Display city and overall leaderboards
- Enable city and tier group chat features
- Process your subscription and grant tier access
- Send push notifications about your progress (with your permission)
- Improve and maintain the App
3. Information We Share
We do not sell your personal information.
We share data with the following service providers solely to operate the App:
- Supabase — database and authentication (supabase.com)
- Stream — in-app group chat (getstream.io)
- Mux — workout video delivery (mux.com)
- Shopify — payment processing (shopify.com)
- Expo / EAS — app delivery and updates (expo.dev)
- OneSignal — push notifications (onesignal.com)
Your display name, city, and workout completions are visible to other users on the leaderboard and in group chats. Your email address is never visible to other users.
4. Health Data — Additional Disclosures
Health and fitness data obtained from HealthKit or Google Health Connect:
- Is used only to verify and log your workout activity within the App
- Is not shared with advertisers or used for advertising purposes
- Is not sold or provided to data brokers
- Is not used for any purpose incompatible with fitness and health tracking
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where required by law.
6. Your Rights (New Zealand Privacy Act 2020)
You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at contact@youknow.co.nz. You may also complain to the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
7. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
